Institute of Energy and Process Engineering

Department of Mechanical and Process Engineering ETH Zurich

The Institute of Energy and Process Engineering (IEPE) of ETH Zurich is active in research and education in the field of energy science and engineering, aimed at the realization of sustainable energy systems that are environmentally friendly, economically viable, socially compatible, reliable and secure. The research strengths of IEPE lie in the disciplines of thermodynamics, heat & mass transport, chemistry & materials, and system modeling, which are applied in energy-related problems covering a wide range of physical phenomena ("multi-physics"), length/time scales ("multi-scaling"), and levels of integration ("complexity"). IEPE is well incorporated in the Energy Science Center, which exploits synergies between complementary kinds of energy-related expertise and strengthens research co-operation among industrial and academic partners in the energy sector.
